22-year-old elephant named “Saheli” passed away at Marghazar Zoo in Islamabad on Tuesday
Sources have confirmed that the elephant was injured a few days back but due to lack of proper healthcare facilities the animal was not treated properly and the poor beast passed away on Tuesday. Fingers have already been pointed at the PPP Government for not providing adequate facilities for the animals. There is a huge outcry by the people to hold the Zoo Keeper responsible. The Government has been quick to respond and have already created a special overseeing committee to investigate this heinous incident and will present their findings to the National Assembly within a week.
Major news channel were also found on site to report this “Breaking News” some of the reporters were found interviewing the monkeys in the neighboring cages and asking them “how they felt about the passing away of the elephant”.
PML-N has decided to call a long march against the Government for the dreadful treatment of the elephant in the Zoo. Meanwhile PTI has decided to hold a Jalsa in front of the Zoo gates to protest against the mistreatment of animals by the Government. Mr. Imran Khan the owner of PTI has said that this is a conspiracy concocted by the Government as they now intend to import Elephants from the US and members of the PPP Government are expected to get commissions against this deal. The media is already calling this the “Hatee-gate” scandal.
The Supreme Court has given the Government a deadline to get to the bottom of this incident otherwise they intend to take Suo Moto action against the Zoo and the Zoo Keeper will be charged with contempt of court and if found guilty the Zoo Keeper will locked up in one of the animal cages for thirty seconds.
PPP has also come in strong support of the Zoo Keeper and have declared they have no intentions of replacing the Zoo Keeper irrespective of whatever action the court takes.
PM Gillani has also given a statement saying that his Government is going to work day and night to ensure the plight these elephants in Pakistan are brought to an end and as a first step he has declared to establish a separate province for the elephants.
